*Seasons For Grieving Children
serves many Innisfil  youth
from their Bar
rie location.

Who We Are

Since 1995, Seasons Centre for Grieving Children has been providing peer to peer support for children between the ages of 5 and 24 years who are grieving the death of an immediate family member. The Centre is founded on the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to grieve in a supportive and understanding environment. Through ongoing DEI trainings and education, we’re committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive culture where every individual feels valued and respected.

What We Do

One of the goals of our peer support groups is to provide participants with the essential skills to promote grieving in healthy ways; thus, building resiliency in our children. Our programs are unique and are designed to provide children with the opportunity to express their feelings in socially acceptable ways. During the group sessions various grief emotions and coping strategies are discussed in child friendly ways. Many of our participants have expressed that Seasons Centre is the only place where they have felt comfortable, understood, and not alone in their grief journey.

Seasons Centre relies solely on the support and generosity of our community. There are no fees for our programs. Children can attend programs regardless of their family’s financial situation.

MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS

75 percent of children with
mental health disorders do not
have access to specialized
treatment.

Mother Daughter Empower

helps by providing 1:1
coaching and counselling
support to women and girls
across Canada.

Who We Are

We are Mother Daughter Empower, a Canadian charity that empowers young girls to be who they are and become anything they want to be.

Tara Filteau and her daughter Sophia Ghafoori founded Mother Daughter Empower, a social enterprise that is dedicated to running events for both moms and daughter. The idea came after realizng that there wasn’t very many opportunities out there for moms and daughter to connect and grow together.

What We Do

Did you know that by age 14 a girl’s confidence will decrease 30% in comparison to boys of the same age? At Mother Daughter Empower, we want to change that statistic! We believe that all women and girls should have equal access to personal development and growth mindset education that will empower them to develop the confidence that they need to live out their dreams and fullest potential. We EMPOWER Mothers & Daughters by providing them with educational programs resources and events through our membership, workshops, retreats and conferences designed for Mothers and girls ages 7-14.

Mother Daughter Empower is a registered Canadian Charity on a mission to empower both women and girls to reach their full potential by providing them with free access to 1:1 counselling, coaching, workshops as well as equal access to accessible mental health, and personal development educational & empowerment events.

The Big Brothers / Big Sisters mentoring program

provides boys and young men/ girls and young

women with a role model to talk to and share the

experiences of growing up with. Through regular

outings, a relationship is developed between the

mentor and the mentee, which is built on trust

and common interests, and is supported by our

experienced case-workers. The result is a life

changing experience for both the mentor and the

mentee. Matches spend approximately 3 hours per

week together doing things that friends do like

going biking, playing ball, doing crafts, watching a

movie or just hanging out.

We ask our volunteers to give a minimum one year

commitment.

SERVING THE COMMUNITY

WHO ARE WE?

“Christmas for Kids”, now called "COMMUNITY FOR KIDS", was the vision of one of Innisfil’s public school principals who asked one of the parents if she would start a Christmas program for Innisfil.   The  schools in Innisfil have many children  who  could  use help  at  Christmas  and  they  wanted  the  food and toys collected in the local schools to go to Innisfil families. Very quickly the local churches  came on board; the United Churches in Gilford and Churchill and the Anglican Churches in Churchill and Cookstown.

We also work with the Innisfil Community Church and the Innisfil Food Bank.  Initially  the  program  was called  “Adopt  a  family”,  but  as  the  program grew it was time to have an official name.  In 2005, a naming contest was held and the Gilford United Church Sunday School came up with the name “Christmas for Kids”. In January 2012, “Christmas for Kids” became a registered charity. We thought the name should reflect  that  we  help  families  all  year  round and  so  we  were  registered  under  the  name “Christmas for Kids” (all year round).

Who We Are

The John Howard Society of Ontario is a not-for-profit organization of 19 local offices dedicated to effective, just and humane responses to crime and its causes.

For more than 90 years, we’ve worked to keep humanity in justice. Today we continue to build a safer Ontario by supporting the people and communities affected by the criminal justice system. Our  local offices deliver more than 80 evidence-based programs and services focused on prevention, intervention and re-integration across the province. These range from helping youth develop the life skills that will let them achieve their full potential, to helping families navigate issues of criminal justice, to providing job training for those leaving incarceration so they can contribute to their community in a meaningful way. We promote practical, equitable policies while raising awareness of the root causes of crime and calling on Ontarians to share responsibility for addressing them. Within the system itself, we advocate for the fair treatment of every individual.

Each year, our work impacts the lives of more than 100,000 Ontarians.

What We Do

We promote practical, evidenced-based policies while providing services, programs and education to all those affected by our criminal justice system.
